Doba Cal — Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Doba Cal app (“Doba”) and its backend service. By downloading, installing, or using Doba, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use Doba.

2. Who we are

Doba is operated by DPC Consulting, a sole proprietorship of Dan Leitao, based in Ontario, Canada. You can reach us at [email protected].

3. Licence to use Doba

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use Doba on Apple devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms.

Doba is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) also applies to the app software. Where it and these Terms overlap, both apply; you can read Apple’s Standard EULA here: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. We don’t reproduce it in these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

When using Doba, you agree not to:

• reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent that law expressly permits despite this restriction;
• interfere with, overload, or abuse the service or its infrastructure;
• use Doba for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any provider’s terms; or
• attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that aren’t yours.

You are responsible for your Doba account and for the provider credentials you connect. Keep your device and sign-in secure.

5. What Doba does

Free tier (on-device): display your calendars, create and edit events, manage invitees, one-tap join, and local alerts.

Paid tier (server-backed): real-time push alerts for surprise events, cross-calendar mirroring / busy-blocking, and instant multi-device sync.

Reliability disclaimer

Calendar mirroring, syncing, and alerts are best-effort. They depend on third-party calendar providers, push delivery, and network conditions we don’t control. We provide them without any warranty of timeliness, accuracy, or completeness. You are responsible for verifying anything that matters. Doba is a convenience layer over your calendars, not the system of record. To the extent the law allows, Doba is not liable for events that are missed, duplicated, mis-mirrored, or delivered late.

6. Subscriptions and billing

The paid tier is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit). The price and billing period are shown at the point of purchase in the App Store.

• Your subscription auto-renews unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions (or in the App Store account settings).
• Apple is the merchant of record and handles all payments and refunds. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds — direct any refund request to Apple.
• Subscription entitlements are managed on our behalf via RevenueCat.

7. Account deletion vs. subscription

You can delete your Doba account in-app. Doing so removes your account record, your stored provider tokens, and your mirror mappings from our server (and revokes your Google tokens with Google).

Deleting your Doba account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Because Apple manages billing, you must cancel separately:

Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Doba > Cancel Subscription.

If you delete your account without cancelling, Apple will keep billing you.

8. Termination

You may stop using Doba and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use Doba in a way that harms the service or others. On termination, your licence ends and you must stop using Doba; the data-deletion behaviour described above and in our Privacy Policy applies. Cancelling any active App Store subscription remains your responsibility (see section 7).

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Doba is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don’t warrant that Doba will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will accurately reflect your calendars at all times.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DPC Consulting (Dan Leitao) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, missed commitments, or lost opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of Doba. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us (via Apple) for Doba in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Your consumer rights are preserved

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 and applicable Canadian federal law. Where such law gives you rights or guarantees that conflict with the disclaimers or limits above, those rights prevail.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

12. For users in the United States

If you use Doba in the United States, these apply in addition to the rest of these Terms:

Your state’s consumer protections are preserved.Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes rights you have under the consumer-protection law of your state that cannot lawfully be waived. Where such law conflicts with a disclaimer or limit in these Terms, your statutory rights prevail. Section 11 (Ontario governing law) applies only to the extent your state’s law permits choice of law.

Automatic renewal disclosure. The paid tier is an automatically renewing subscription. Before you buy, the App Store purchase screen shows the price, the billing period, and that the subscription renews automatically until cancelled; completing the purchase there is your affirmative consent to those renewal terms. You can cancel at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions), the same medium you used to subscribe, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Apple sends purchase and renewal receipts to your Apple ID email.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we’ll post the updated version and update the effective date. If the changes are material, we’ll give reasonable notice (in-app or by email). Continuing to use Doba after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
